In recent years the use of e-cigarettes has surged. Many lifelong cigarette smokers have used e-cigarettes to kick the habit. With the spike in popularity, Seal Beach lawmarkers are concerned about the lack of regulation in the e-cigarette industry. In order to get a better understanding of the any health and safety concerns, Seal Beach officials have agree to a 45 day ban on e-cigarette sells.
Fox2now.com reports that the Seal Beach city council decided to put the ban in place so they could study other cities to see how they are governing the use of e-cigarettes.
The ban will not affect companies that currently sell e-cigarettes, but will block any new shops from opening up.
The council is set to meet again on September 23, and will decide to either lift the ban, extend it, or to make the ban permanent.
