Official: Atletico Madrid sign Mario Mandzukic

The Spanish League Champions Atletico Madrid have officially announced the signing of Striker Mario Mandzukic from Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich.

After completing his medical Mandzukic penned a four year deal with his new club. The Madrid based club had to pay 22 million pounds for the Croatians services.

Upon the completion of his move Mandzukic stated, "I am very happy to be here. I am well aware of Atletico and I know they have good players and a good coach,"

"I know a lot about Atletico, I have seen several games and I like the style of play.

"The coach is very good, they have good players, and I think I can do great things with this team."

Atletico's director Jose Luis Caminero also commented on the move stating, "The signing of Mandzukic is great news because he has all the characteristics we were looking for,"

"He is a strong striker with a powerful shot, who is a real aerial threat, too. He is a true winner and a player who is used to winning titles. He will add a lot to Atletico."

At Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich Mandzukic managed 54 appearances and scored 33 goals in total. He also assisted Bayern Munich with winning the Champions League, two Bundesliga titles, and 2 German Cup titles.

The move to the Madrid based club comes as no surprise as Mandzukic was seen as surplus to requirements to Bayern Munich after the signing of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski. Mandzukic is seen as the proper replacement for the recently departed Diego Costa.

Atletico Madrid fans will hope that there new striker will bang in the goals and help them gain more trophies.
