The Officers Quarters at Fort Mifflin burned this morning and "devastating damage" has been reported by Lorraine Donahue-Irby, a Fort Mifflin on the Delaware spokesperson, on her Facebook page.
A 911 call was placed by a Boy Scout leader who was overseeing an overnight camping experience at the historic fort. The Philadelphia Fire Department brought the blaze under control in an hour. No persons were reported injured. This is the second time a building was destroyed during a Boy Scout overnight camping experience. The first fire gutted the Commandant's house and it has yet to be fully restored.
Lorraine Donahue-Irby reported "please say a prayer for this wonderful National landmark and that it will be restored." There is no official cause for the fire reported yet from the Fire Marshal.
