A Colorado Springs police officer was injured Wednesday evening and a suspect was tased during a drunken disturbance call.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, at approximately 8:45 pm, Officer Blanca Caro was first on the scene of a disturbance call regarding an intoxicated female. When Officer Caro contacted and attempted to arrest the suspect, 37-year-old Alecia Zaher, Zaher became combative. The officer and the suspect scuffled before Officer Caro used her Taser on Zaher in order to gain control of the suspect and stop the assault, the department stated.

An additional officer arrived on the scene and assisted in arresting Zaher for second degree assault on a peace officer, which is a felony. She was treated for injuries she sustained during the fight and then booked into the El Paso County jail. Officer Caro was also injured and was treated and released from the hospital.
