The Oakland Raiders could not find their rhythm either offensively or defensively. The Denver Broncos were able to march down the field seemingly at will on the Raiders defense. Meanwhile, the offense could not string together any significant drives. Their only points were a 48 yard Sebastian Janikowski drive.
JaMarcus Russell was roundly booed by the home crowd by the middle of the second quarter. Russell finished the game 12 of 21 which was good for 57%. However, he could only turn that into 61 yards. He added two interceptions to finish with a passer rating of 22.6.
The Raiders vaunted running game could not get on track for the second consecutive week. Darren McFadden fumbled three times, losing one of them and only added 45 yards on 15 carries. Bush had no fumbles but only added 20 yards on six carries.
Defensively, the Raiders could not fare much better. The Broncos did not put up astounding numbers in the passing game, but they were able to do enough to keep the drives alive. In the running game, the Broncos were able to replicate what was seen through much of the preseason, as Correll Buckhalter ran for 108 and rookie Knowshon Moreno added 90 yards.
Denver didn't even have to sent out their punting unit until midway through the fourth quarter. At taht time it was painfully obvious that they had the game in hand and were just killing the clock. The Raiders simply stacked the box as everyone in the stadium knew the Broncos were going to just run the ball to let more time expire.
The one time the Raiders defense was able to make a big play, Gerard Warren forced a fumble that Mike Mitchell fell on deep in Broncos territory. Two plays later, McFadden fumbled the ball right back to Denver.

I'm so tired of the same crap every year. Why can't they get it together? The Jets, The Falcons, The Cardinals, The Ravens and is much as I hate to say it, even the Niners are better at rebuilding. Kiffin was right - Russell doesn't have it.
We stink! We gotta keep it real and call it like it is. Mr. Davis, please sell the team and salvage whatever legace you still have left. Each year you become less competitive and your team and its loyal fans have to suffer. Do whats best and retire.
Does anyone else wish we drafted Sanchez? He's got IT. Russell is a bust and its time to move on.
Russell is young, but you'd expect to see a bit more growth from this guy. He's not as good as most all of the other young QBs - hey the old ones too. Oh well, maybe we can start to talk about this years draft.
Hey Mel - where do you begin with the draft. The team can't stop the run, can't protect the QB, They can't pass and they can't catch. Other than run, the team needs help everywhere.
Do you guys smell that? The Raiders "STINK! I have been a Raider Fan for 35 years and the rot from the past 6 years is once again affecting this team. Al Davis, its time to release the team to somebody thats able to evaluate players and coaches and bring this team back to dominance. I am sick of it all!!!!!!!
Carlos,
I second that!!!!!!!
a raider fan, now I'm just an observer. I can't take it any more, I've been a fan for over 30 years now, and this is the worst Raider team I've seen period. We are absolutely atrocious. I give up!!! To all the Raider fans that are left, good luck and try a different religion, because your God isn't listening. JaMucus sucks a giant elephant penis dipped in gonorrhea. If the faithful doesn't see it be now, Helen Keller isn't blind she's just turning the other way.

What the fans need to do is boycott these games. Don't go, I mean no one at all in the stands. This team needs a clear message from the fans that we are sick and tired of this. Fans really need to get a group together and storm that facility... Really what other options do we have??? We deserve better than this.
Al Davis retire....hard to imagine. I'd settle for a change of QB right now, and let the Coach put the right team on the field!
These are your words AL "Comittment to Excellence" and "Just Win Baby!" I guess you've forgotten what got you there in the first place haven't you? You don't believe or follow what you want all of us fans to believe. You used to put the best team on the field but now all you do is put the highest draft choices on the field whether they can do the job or not. Call a spade a spade and open your eyes to what you are doing to your fans and franchise. A bust is a bust no matter how much you want them to succeed or how much you pay them. If the small turnout on game day doesn't convince you then what will? Are you going to wait until nobody comes before you wake up? You can't move the team to L.A, now that you have run it into the ground. So now what?
I also used to be a Raiders fan, I fell in love with the Raiders as a 6yr old boy. I am now a 55yr old man and have stuck with the team through thick and thin. Well I just can't take it anymore Russell is the poorest excuse of a quaterback I've ever seen and Bey should hit the highway. He couldn't catch a cold in Alaska if he was but naked!!!!!!!!!!! This is truly a sad day in my life. The team should play against high schoolers maybe then they could get more than 5 wins a year. I did say maybe. I will be burning my raider gear tonight. I should be able to keep warm for some time, I've spent alot of money over the years. I can't even give the stuff away.
Russell needs to be a team player and quit.
Sanchez and Stafford looked waaaay better in their third game than Russell lookes in his third year. You have to put someone else in. We don't have to tell the press that we are giving up on Russell, he just needs more time to develope and observe. No one could argue that he is not ready to command a team, could they?
I don't know what to say about the defense. They just got punched in the mouth and pushed around like little girls, they should be ashamed.
Holland sux at returning kicks. Put Mcfadden back there. If he gets hurt he gets hurt. If we want even 4 wins this year we gotta balls out and fill every position with the most qualified player, despite stature or salary.
By far, the worst owner and the consistently the worst team in the NFL. This is on you Mr. Davis. Don't blame another coach. Kiffin was right about Jamarcus - he can't play at this level. Enjoy wasting your money Mr. Davis.
The game has passed you Mr. Davis.
My advice - get somebody else to draft for your team - you stink!
You need an editor. Too many typos and grammatical errors.
I have to agree with the majority of writers that the Raiders need to make a change at QB. I'm sure they didn't want to pay Garcia the money that he was asking for as well as pay Russell's salary just for Russell to ride the bench. Well, if the Raiders won't pay Garcia then they might as well play Gradowski or Frye. They are not only way ahead of Russell at this stage of his development but they could offer positive examples of what Russell should be doing when he gets his chance to get back in the game.
Meanwhile the team should be able to eke out a few wins with either backup QB in there. It is a shame seeing the team play their hearts out only to be let down by Russell's substandard play.
Instead of I'm in, it is I'm Done. Funny, now I am understanding what Sapp has been spouting. And I hate admitting that. Our season was done after the SD game. He was right.
I will never buy another Raiders item until Davis dies. And please boycott the games until Russell is benched. Al Davis does not deserve our hard earned money any longer. It is obvious that he cares more about his ego than the enjoyment of his fans.
The SD game was actually exciting to watch, but the last two games I am reminded why football has soured on me. It is not fun to watch the Raiders play. They are almost never competitive, and even if they are, they lose at the end.
And the whole Gannon incident just proves that Davis has lost it. As someone pointed out, back in our heyday, Davis could care less about what a former player, or media person had to say about the Raiders.
Now, he takes to cowardly and pathetic route to try to ban Gannon from the stadium? That was the last straw for me.
Got something to say?
