Tulsa will have a new offensive coordinator next fall. It became clear when coach Bill Blankenship announced Thursday in a school press release that Greg Peterson will not return in that role for the 2014 season.

Peterson has served that role along with being the wide receivers’ coach for the past three seasons. The Golden Hurricane thrived under his direction in 2011 and 2012 and won the Conference USA championship in the latter year, bur TU struggled to a 3-9 finish this past season.

"I appreciate the dedication that Greg has given to our football program the past three years, but I thought it was best to make a change,” Blankenship said. “Greg is one of the finest individuals you'll ever meet. We wish him and his family the very best.”

Peterson came to TU in 2011 after being on the staff of Northern Colorado the previous year. He has also coached at Colorado State, Washington State, Kansas State and Nebraska Wesleyan.

No timetable has been set for the hiring of a new offensive coordinator.
