Climate change troubles have not stopped a coastal ocean scientists conserve from thriving. San Diegans find out the direction conservation efforts head. Scripps Institution scientists took a half century doing the groundbreaking research used to teach visitors the ocean temperature changes across centuries.

Living kelp, and leopard sharks and jellyfish, in the tanks show those who pass through ecologies off track in the ocean are not a happening of the past. The life that fits in the aquarium waters does more than inspire wonder inthe ocean's changes. It promotes conservation. Visitors walk out knowing the ocean discoveries can be rare.

Opening new opportunities to take the good the swelling ocean has in store is work never done. The California Center for Sustainable Energy gave Birch Aquairum a sustainability leadership award in March, 2012 to make sure their contribution to conservation progress counts.

Unlimited ways San Diegans can find to use the ocean's natural forces to "power our lives" keeps Birch staff at work on oepning opportunities to enjoy the ocean's beautiful gifts. The interactive Boundless Energy exhibit digs deeper than the swell tops beach visitors see.
