Odenton Woman Charged With Murder Turns Herself In To Police

A woman has turned herself in to police for the stabbing death of her husband.

According to published documents on November 6 2012 Anne Arundel County Police responded to a townhome in the 100 block of Pine Cove Avenue in the Enclave at Seven Oaks in Odenton where they found 45 year old Jerome Vorden Wood on the living room floor with a stab wound to his upper torso.

He was taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie where he later died.

His death was originally reported as a suicide when his wife, 38 year old Donna Mills Wood initially told investigators that her husband stabbed himself in the chest with a large kitchen knife. However, the Maryland Medical Examiner's Officer determined that his wounds were not self-inflicted and ruled his death a homicide.

Donna later changed her story and told investigators that the couple started fighting in the bedroom when she confronted him about his whereabouts the night before. Convinced he was cheating on her, she said she was able to turn a kitchen knife on him after he pulled it on her. When witnesses were interviewed they told investigators that although they heard the fight, they never saw her husband get a knife from the kitchen and when detectives searched the bedroom no furniture was disturbed and they saw no apparent signs of a struggle.

Donna, who has no prior criminal record, turned herself in to police on Thursday where she was arrested and charged with first degree murder. She is being held without bail at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center.
