Octomom may go to jail for welfare fraud

Octomom has been reportedly been charged with welfare fraud according to news reports on Monday, Jan. 13 (2014).

Octomom is accused of welfare fraud for the period of January through June of 2013. Octomom, a single mom, has been on welfare to help support her 14 children.

The fraud stimulates around the fact that she made approximately $30,000 in this time period and also received food stamps in the same time period. The earnings are said to be from personal appearances and a porn tape that she made and marketed.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Octomom received approximately $16,481 in welfare payments during this time also.

Nadya Sulemen is charges with one count of aid by misrepresentation and two counts of perjury by false application, both felony charges.

If Octomom is convicted of these felony charges, she could face up to five years in prison. She will be arraigned in court on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014. Bail is expected to be set at $25,000.
