“Autumn, the year's last, loveliest smile.” William Cullen Bryant
“October gave a party; the leaves by hundreds came - The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples, and leaves of every name. The Sunshine spread a carpet, and everything was grand, Miss Weather led the dancing, Professor Wind the band. ” George Cooper
“I cannot endure to waste anything as precious as autumn sunshine by staying in the house. So I spend almost all the daylight hours in the open air.” Nathaniel Hawthorne
There are so many wonderful quotes about the fall season that we just could not choose only one. Fall in the heartland is absolutely breathtaking! The colors of the foliage and the trees once the change begins are a must for all to see. The sunshine is bright and crisp, and the skies are such a clear, beautiful blue.
Yes, autumn sunshine is too precious a thing to waste. Everyone needs to get outdoors this time of year, so that they can appreciate the beautiful skies, the changing colors of the nature around them, and take in the clean fall air.
October is a fun month for another reason. We have Halloween to look forward to at the end of the month; pumpkins, ghosts and ghouls, haunted houses, costume parties, and of course ‘trick or treating’. Speaking of haunted houses, don’t forget to pay a visit to ‘A Nightmare on Q Street’, located in the Fun-Plex Amusement Park at 7003 Q Street, in Omaha. This haunted attraction is home to Raven’s Nightmare Phobia, the only portal to hell in the Midwest. Raven invites you to enter his domain, and face your deepest, darkest fears. What do you have to lose but your sanity?
We, well especially the horror buffs, love October, as there is a plethora of scary movie marathons that run anywhere from twenty-four hour sprints to the entire month. So, for those who do not wish to get outside, well, there you go.
Please, enjoy the slideshow and video of the beautiful colors of nature, and the grand skies of the fall season in the Midwest.
