The fall running and racing season is now well under way. Every weekend has several interesting events from 5k’s to longer distances up to full marathons..
October is probably the busiest month of the year with generally ideal running conditions with cool temperatures.There are also numerous events in the spirit of the Halloween Season.
It is also a month with full marathons and runners who are participating are doing their final long training runs.
But, October as we all remember can also be a cruel month as happened last year. This month also will mark the one year anniversary of Hurricane Sandy and many communities are still recovering from its impact.
The federal government shutdown will also impact events being held in national parks most notably the Jersey Shore Half Marathon.
