Starting this weekend, leading through the end of the month there are too many good shows for any one person to see. A music lover would have to have no other obligations, limitless funds and a few clones to see concerts playing at the same time. So, to give folks a few ideas of when and where to go for great music, here are some previews of the most highly anticipated and impressive shows coming up.
Friday night Cornmeal and Dirtfoot will be stopping off at The Bottleneck along their tour, with opener Jon Gamache. This double-dose of excellent bluegrass goodness somewhere between $10-12 according to Ink magazine. Doors open at 9 p.m.
That same night, if you're in the mood for something a little more indie, check out Minus the Bear at the Granada for $18.
Anyone in Kansas City this Friday can get funky with The Floozies and Evil Bastards for just $5!
Saturday The Bottleneck will once again get jammed full with Inflect and Bassthoven opening for Future Rock. The electronic rock group has the dance-ability of a good electronica band with the aggressive growl of a hardcore rock troupe. For just $11 you can join the raging party.
That same night, Taking Back Sunday will be at the Granada for $23.50. Hard to believe, but these old emo/pop-punk rockers are still at it, so any fans or people seeking a trip back in time should be there.
Sunday Portugal. The Man will be at The Bottleneck with opener Only Children. For $16 you can see the progressive psychedelic rock group that is as catchy as it is unique.
That same night, don't forge that Dump Truck Butterlips will be playing their Sunday Speakeasy show at the Jazzhaus starting at 10 p.m. for only $3!
Looking ahead to next week, That One Guy will be at the Bottleneck with Pogo on Wednesday the 12th. The wacky one-man-act is a sight to behold, so don't miss out.
