This October, California Academy of Sciences has some fun and educational activities for all ages. Activities range from sleepovers for kids; and cocktail parties, live bands, along with fine dining for adults.
During October, new members receive a 15% discount on memberships.

Nightlife – 21 and over, only. Every Thursday night, music, creatures and cocktails come together. Each week features a live band or DJ, and a unique theme.
- 10/6: Sharktoberfest Night Life
- 10/13: Designed from Nature - See stilt walking and juggling inspired by Cirque du Soleil’s Totem.
- 10/20: Science of Voting Night Life – Roundtable discussion explores the science of voting.
- 10/27: Zombie Nightlife - Neuroscience of zombies, costume contest, roaming zombies, zombie makeovers and much more!
Penguins+Pajamas – Hunker down for the night in African Hall, the Aquarium, the Lower Swamp, or in the Islands of Evolution. Why count sheep when you could count geckos, butterflies, sharks, and penguins?
Homeschool Day – Homeschooling parents and students get a special day of presentations, demonstration, and hands-on activities. Students and families receive discounted admission.
Halloween Weekend, October 29 -30 - Kick off your Halloween festivities with family-friendly programs including incredible (and sometimes spooky) creatures and phenomena. Learn how dermestid beetles are used by museums to clean bones. Discover how leeches, tape worms, and other parasites feed off of other life forms to survive. Take a closer look at human and animal skulls; live tarantulas, hissing cockroaches, crawling, slithering critters, and more.
