October at SPCA of Texas

The fall weather is the perfect time to get outdoors with your favorite canine and an even better time to locate that special animal.  SPCA of Texas has many worthy animals that are ready to be your forever friend. Please consider adopting one of these fine animals only if you are prepared to make a lifetime commitment -- they are sure to repay you with wags, licks and purrs. Be sure to see the animals in the slideshow below.

Dallas Pets

Hi there, his name is Kicker, and he's an 18-month-old, Catahoula Leopard Dog mix, and boy is he handsome. He has beautiful, blue markings with lots of freckles and a million dollar smile to match. He was transferred to the SPCA of Texas on August 16 from another shelter. When he first came in, he had a puncture wound on his foot, but the nice doctors at the SPCA of Texas say it is healing up great! Kicker is a really smart boy and eager to please. Since he is a Catahoula, he's an active dog so he probably needs to live with a family who has time to take him on nice, long walks or jogs. He's a working dog, and may have a tendency to herd, so he would likely do best in a family of older children. Please come visit him soon, and see if you can kick back, relax and get lots of cuddle time! Kicker is also a V.I.P. (Very Important Pet) because he has been waiting for his new, loving home for more than 30 days, and he has a special adoption price of $50! #11248256

This lovely lady is Sassy, the super friendly cat with the adorable, squatty body! She's a Domestic Shorthair with a black and grey tabby coat. She is 11 years old, and she weighs 13 pounds! Sassy was brought to the SPCA of Texas by her owner on September 16 because their landlord said she could no longer live there. She has a beautiful face with a short, little tail, and she is as friendly as a cat can be; a real butterball of affection. She's housetrained and litter trained and has lived with kids before. No one is a stranger to Miss Sassy; she loves everyone! Do you have a forever home for an affectionate girl like her? #11463952

This young pup is Brody, an 8-month-old, male, Shepherd-Terrier mix. He was transferred to the SPCA of Texas on August 5 and cannot wait to find his new, forever home. He's a really friendly boy who loves to have his belly rubbed, and he's pretty smart too, if he may say so. Brody already knows how to "sit," and with your help, the sky’s the limit! And Brody is such a good boy, he even got to be on WFAA's Tailwagger segment! There’re just all kinds of things you and Brody can learn together, so please come see him and get your personal training class going right away. He is waiting, and he'll be your eager student and your pal forever. Brody is also a V.I.P. (Very Important Pet) because he has been waiting for his loving family since August 5, and he has a special adoption price of $50! #11175883

Hey folks, this kitty is Cookie. He's a 1-year-old, male, Domestic Medium Hair cat. As you can see from his picture, he's a black and white mix, and he has a very cute, black spot on his face that makes him irresistible. He was brought to the SPCA of Texas back on September 2 by a nice person who found him, but was not able to keep him forever. He's a playful kitty, but he is also very affectionate, especially when you feed him! Cookie is housetrained and I has lived with other pets before, and he is great with other cats. He's friendly and calm; a very mild-mannered kitty. He enjoys having his chin rubbed and being brushed too! Do you have a forever home for a nice guy like Cookie? #11375147

This is Pipo, a 13-year-old, Siamese, male cat looking for a new home because his owner could no longer afford to care for him. He is a beautiful, Seal Point Siamese with blue eyes, and I must say, all the ladies around here think he's a looker. In his previous home, he lived with another female cat, so he's a friendly boy who gets along with other kitties as long as they are properly introduced. He is also a huge love bug and incredibly affectionate. He just loves to rub up against you and have his head and neck scratched.... so much so that sometimes he drools a bit when he gets lots of attention-- he may be part dog. But he's a quiet fellow who needs a little help balancing his diet, since he's a big boy. He also had some dental work done while at the SPCA of Texas so he is all healthy now! Pipo will be waiting to meet you at the Grand Prairie Petsmart beginning Thursday, September 2, 2010. #11089645

This sweet guy is Trigg, a 1-year-old, Terrier mix. He's playful, affectionate and very loving, and as you can tell, he loves to dress up for Halloween! He was transferred to the SPCA of Texas on September 28, and he has been waiting for his new home ever since. Trigg is a spunky, happy-go-lucky pup, who is eager to please his new family. He has a beautiful red coat, and an adorable, curly tail. And he is so well behaved, that he has even been on T.V. and to the radio station. That's right, he's a star! Trigg will be waiting for you at the SPCA of Texas, so please come see him soon! #11545710

McKinney Pets

Hi there, this handsome fellow is Simon, and he's a 6-year-old, Domestic Shorthair mix with a gorgeous grey and white fur coat. He was originally rescued from inhumane conditions by the SPCA of Texas back in February of 2008. He was adopted, and lived with his family for two years, but due to their recent divorce, they brought him back here to the SPCA of Texas to find a new, loving, forever home. He's a very sweet boy but a little shy around new people. Simon is a quiet kitty, and he loves to be scratched on the head and neck. He gets along well with other kitties too so if you have other pets he will fit right in. He's also housebroken and litter trained so no need to worry about that. Come see him soon! Simon will be waiting in his bed taking a cat nap! #4165723

Izzy is a gorgeous Labrador Retriever mix with a beautiful, black and tan brindled coat. She is one year old and very well mannered for a youngster. She is already housebroken, and leash trained and she gets along well with other dogs and children. Izzy is a very smart girl and knows commands like “sit” and “lie down” and she is eager to learn so much more! Her favorite treat is a nice belly scratch. Izzy was surrendered on September 16 by her owners because they thought she was too big for their living environment. She is a very lovable girl who is waiting for her new family! Come see Izzy today, she will be waiting for you. #11465160

Hello, this is Samantha, and she's quite a fox! She is a 6-year-old, Domestic Shorthair kitty, and weighs 12 pounds. She was surrendered to the SPCA of Texas on March 18 because she was not happy with in living environment. She has a gorgeous, brown, tabby coat and a very loud purrrrr. Her eyes are bright green so she is a beauty queen! She is good with kids and is ready to be petted or scratched forever. One of her favorite activities is lying around the house and surveying her kingdom! She's a great kitty and can’t wait to meet her new owners. Come and say hello today! Samantha is V.I.P. (Very Important Pet) because she has been waiting for her new family since March 18, and she has a special adoption price of $50! #10048103

Although he doesn't have any friends named Winnie, he does have a beautiful, orange tabby coat and big yellow eyes! Tigger can also tell you that he's super-friendly, lovable, really calm, and loves to be petted. Being the mature, 5-year-old that he is, he enjoys sitting and observing his surroundings. He is especially good with dogs but would probably better in a family with older children and no cats. And if you haven't noticed, one of his favorite activities is eating, so he may need your help when it comes to a balanced diet. He hides it well, doesn't he? His owners surrendered him to the SPCA of Texas on June 1 because they were moving. Tigger would love to join your family! #10647766

This pretty puppy is Paul, an Australian Cattle Dog mix with a beautiful, red and white speckled coat. He is six months old and has lots of puppy energy and big personality. He is looking for a family who can spend time with him and take him on lots of walks. He is very affectionate, and a happy-go-lucky pup who loves being scratched behind his big, floppy ears. He is smart by nature and eager to learn! He was transferred in to the SPCA of Texas on July 5 in hopes of finding his new home. For the past few weeks, he has been recovering from a broken leg. He's doing great, and he still has lots of puppy energy and personality! Come and meet him today! Paul might be your next puppy. He is also a V.I.P. (Very Important Pet) because he has been waiting for his loving home for more than 30 days, and he has a special adoption price of $50! #10891967

This sweetheart is Lucky, and that is a very fitting name for him because he was rescued by a good samaritan. He is 18 months old, and the most handsome Hound you`ve ever seen! He was brought to the SPCA of Texas on September 15 because, unfortunately, his nice friend couldn`t keep him forever. Lucky is very easy-going and laid back, and his favorite activity is sniffing out a trail! He's a polite boy who gets along with cats, kids and other dogs. He loves to play in the great outdoors and snuggle with his family for nap time. He will make a Lucky family very happy, so please come see him soon! He's been waiting for you. #11459125
