October 25: Launchpad Hosts a Night of Heavy Metal Music, Comedy, and More

On October 25, Albuquerque’s Launchpad joins forces with Kevin Kennedy to host “Vagrant Variety,” a night of heavy metal music, comedy, magic, burlesque, belly dancing, crazy contests, and a super-secret celebrity guest! Doors for this 21+ show open at 8:00 pm, with the show getting started at 9:00 pm. Entry is only $8.

Two bands will provide music for this event: Suspended and Tetelestai. Comedians include Kevin Kennedy, Curt Fletcher, Anthony “Animal” Garcia, Goldie Garcia, Rusty Rutherford, Sarah Kennedy, and Mike Boyle. Featured acts include Back of the Bus, Pavel Ivanocich Kosachev, Damien Flores, and RyeSeronie.

The Queens of Thrash Metal, Suspended have certainly given New Mexico a nosebleed. The trio comprised of bassist/vocalist Melynda Montano, guitarist Amanda Castillo, and drummer Channing Concho have been executing their aggressive thrash attack since 2003, while they were still in high school. The band’s debut album is titled Prelude to Indignance.

Meaning “it is finished,” Belen’s Tetelestai dig deep into severe technical off-beats, breakdowns, and punishing tempos. The band has released its debut album, Epitome of Them All, and has shared the stage with bands such as Soulfly, Otep, and Bury Your Dead.

Around since 1997, Albuquerque’s Launchpad has played host to bands of numerous genres, including punk, indie rock, and metal. The Launchpad is located on 618 Central Avenue Southwest, which is between 6th and 7th streets.
