Oceanside woman busted for phony prescriptions

An Oceanside woman was arraigned Friday morning on felony forgery and identity theft after allegedly forging prescriptions for pain medication, Nassau County police said.

Kathleen Trumpatori, 53, of 376 Moore Ave., stands accused of presenting forged prescriptions to a pharmacist at a West Hempstead CVS. Police said Trumpatori forged the prescription in the name of a 49-year-old woman. She then allegedly went to the pharmacy located at 814 Hempstead Avenue on five separate occasions from Feb. 16, 2012 to Sept. 13, 2012.

According to investigators, each time Trumpatori went to the pharmacy, Feb. 16, March 7, May 29, July 11 and Sept. 13, she was able to procure 30 pills of Vicodin. An investigation by detectives resulted in her arrest on Thursday.

Trumpatori was charged with five counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument and five counts of second-degree identity theft. She was arraigned Friday at First District Court in Hempstead and is currently being held in lieu of $1,000 bail. She is due back in court on Feb. 20.
