Around this time last year Oceans Over Airplanes released a small EP. Now Anthony Pagorek, Theodore Ostrowski, Russell Gasper, and Joseph Muzyka have self produced and released their first full length album called "Rip The Sky From The Earth". What wasn't apparent on the EP becomes clearer on the full length album, Pagorek's voice, while having a great tone to it, has a limited vocal range. The beauty of the EP was you didn't notice it, but stretched over ten tracks and it's at times, painfully obvious. On a few tracks they even veer toward the "screamo" sound, which is somewhere they don't need to go, OOA is more of a emo, indie vibe, think Rise Against but not as political.
Most of the tracks are ballads, or at least start out that way, before an influx of guitar and drums swell up. But the riffs and beats are uncomplicated as are the lyrics. OOA keeps every thing simple. Simple and beautiful.
