Ocean City planning July 4th celebration at Northside Park

Ocean City, Maryland is planning its annual 4th of July celebration. When else? On Friday, the 4th of July, 2014.

This year's Independence Day celebration in Ocean City takes place in Northside Park at 125th Street on the Bay. The concert will start at 8 p.m.

The evening culminates with what else? The traditional fireworks show, which is scheduled to run between 9:30 and 10 p.m. For more information, call 800-OC-OCEAN or 410-250-0125.

Because of the high volume of expected traffic after the show, the Coast Guard plans to modify the opening schedule for the US 50 Bridge, over Isle of Wight (Sinepuxent) Bay, mile 0.5. The Ocean City Police Department requested the modified schedule. The Coast Guard is planning to keep the bridge down between 9:30 and 11 p.m., though it is taking public comments on the request until May 16. The Coast Guard doesn’t expect much traffic over the bridge during the fireworks but expects a heavy load between 10:30 and 11 p.m.
