Members of OWS Make Stop in Trenton on their Way to Washington DC
Friday welcomes marchers from OWS, who left Zucotti Park in NY a few days ago with the intended destination of the Occupation in Washington DC. They’ll be stopping at Occupations along the way to raise awareness of the movement.
On Veteran's Day members of Occupy Princeton and Occupy New Brunswick along with other local organizations will be joining them in marching to Occupy Trenton where they will be camping out in our newly set up Tent City.
Veteran’s Day will be a big day for the dedicated members of Occupy Trenton. The iconic WW II Memorial will play host, along with it’s latest residents, to various Veteran’s groups and musical acts on a day that also brings the marchers from Occupy Wall Street to town. The Memorial itself will be the backdrop for the start of Occupy Trenton’s first march through the streets of the city, which will make it’s way to the WW I Memorial at 1 Memorial Drive and then on to it’s conclusion at The Trenton Battle Monument, which commemorates the American victory at the first Battle of Trenton.
These sites represent an important symbolism to the members of Occupy Trenton, who are determined to legally and respectfully redress the problems within our government, fully aware of our responsibility as citizens to fight “enemies both home and abroad”. The Trenton Battle Monument will also be the backdrop to OT’s second location, a permitted park where tents and other structures will be allowed, adding a much needed workable space for our media outlet as well as a place for tired Occupiers to be able to rest undisturbed after long days promoting healthy and informative dialogue about community and government.
The Coalition for Peace reports they will also be joing up with the march with them to Trenton and to march with them from Trenton to Pennsylvania as they embark toward Philadelphia Saturday morning.
Occupy Wall Street Marches into NJ
Occupy Wall Street just started a March from Wall Street to Washington D.C., arriving in DC on November 23, the deadline for the Super Committee to make its deficit reduction recommendations.
They are scheduled to arrive at Occupy New Jersey, across from the NJ State House, on Friday afternoon, November 11, Veteran's Day. On Saturday morning, November 12, at about 9:00 AM they plan to march to the Trenton Makes Bridge into Morrisville PA and Bucks County.
If you can volunteer to March from the NJ State House to the Trenton Makes Bridge, and carry signs supplied by CFPA, please reply to this email. If you can March in Morrisville, PA, please contact Lower Bucks CFPA contact, Cathy Leary at cfpabuxmont1@aol.com or (215) 917-2891.
Local unions and other organizations have also contacted Occupy Trenton to support and get involved with the days activities.
The Progressive Democrats of New Jersey has also put out a call to their massive membership and all veteran's to join the day's event at the state house.
Please Note: If you are responding to this email, please let the occupiers know you found out about it from PDA New Jersey !!!!

Posted 1 hour ago on Nov. 7, 2011, 5:30 p.m. EST by OccupyWallSt
On November 3rd, the Congressional Deficit Reduction Super-Committee will meet to decide on whether or not to keep Obama's extension to the Bush tax-cuts - which only benefit the richest 1% of Americans in any kind of significant way. Luckily, a group of OWS'ers are embarking on a two-week march from Liberty Plaza to the Whitehouse to let the committee know what the 99% think about these cuts. Join the march to make sure these tax cuts for the richest 1% of Americans are allowed to die!
More information:
The 20 mile a day/2 week march from Liberty Square to DC is set to leave this Wednesday, November 9 at noon. On Wednesday we'll be leaving Liberty Square and marching to the New York Waterway/Hudson River Ferry and onward to Elizabeth, NJ. This is our first stop. Everyone is welcome to join this two week march. If you'd like to participate, but can't commit for two weeks you're welcome to join us for the day or help send us off!
The march is being organized by a few of us here at OWS. We will be in DC by Nov 23 for the Congressional Super Committee meeting. This committee has the power to keep the Bush tax cuts (that only benefit the top 1%) or let them expire. We want to be there to fight for the 99%! We will also be connecting with Occupy Philly and Occupy Baltimore along the route, and, of course, Occupy DC!
A major draw for this march is to encourage more people in rural communities to get involved as well as bring spreading the word along the highway. We are hoping people will join the march along the way; whether for an hour, a day, or the full two weeks, we feel its imperative for OWS to be involved in the historical significance of long distance marches to support, promote, and encourage economic and social equality. We will be walking from 9am to to 5pm (banker hours) and will hold nightly GA's and/or discussions at 7pm in each town where we camp. We will be spending two days off at Occupy Philly and Occupy Baltimore. We are hoping a few people from these occupations will join us in the march to the White House and Occupy DC!Our route is as follows:
- 11/9/11: Liberty Square to Elizabeth, NJ
- 11/10/11: Elizabeth, NJ to New Brunswick, NJ
- 11/11/11: New Brunswick, NJ to Trenton, NJ
- 11/12/11: Trenton, NJ to Andalusia, PA
- 11/13/11: Andalusia, PA to Occupy Philly
- 11/14/11: DAY OFF AT OCCUPY PHILLY
- 11/15/11: Occupy Philly to Wilmington, DE
- 11/16/11: Wilmington, DE to Newark, DE
- 11/17/11: Newark, DE to Rising Sun, MD
- 11/18/11: Rising Sun, MD to Bel Air, MD
- 11/19/11: Bel Air, MD to Occupy Baltimore
- 11/20/11: DAY OFF AT OCCUPY BALTIMORE
- 11/21/11: Occupy Baltimore to Laurel, MD
- 11/22/11: Laurel, MD to Occupy DC
- 11/23/11: Occupy DC to The White House for Super Committee meeting

Update on Occupy Trenton
Saturday was the 31st day of Occupy Trenton and they are still at the Veteran’s Memorial across the street from the State house.
Also they had their first event of offering a seminar and workshop at 2PM to teach others how to set up an occupation in their area and how to overcome the initial challenges. They will be holding workshops every Saturday at 2pm. More details on the Saturday events can be found here ( with items needed ) http://bit.ly/tosO25
The Occupiers have received visits in support from State Senator Shirley Turner (609) 530-3277, Awm. Bonnie Watson Coleman (609) 292-0500 and Congressman Rush Holt (609) 750-9365. Please call and thank them for their support.
Also, Their City Planning Council is currently working on setting up a tent city at a nearby park. Any help or suggestions with that would be welcomed (labor, building supplies, planners, etc)
As for the Civil Suite :
Just received word Monday that they won a temporary injunction….Hooray!!!!
Important Request:
The occupiers are in desperate need of a van or panel truck (like a bread truck ) to park near the Veteran’s Memorial.
If they had a van or panel truck they could keep their extra supplies handy, out of sight and sheltered from the elements. Keeping their stuff clean and dry. Also protected from theft.
If you or someone you know, has a van or truck for them to use please contact them at occupynewjersey@gmail.com. Be sure to include your name, phone number and email for them to get back to you.
Other Items Needed by the Occupiers: If you can help with any of the following, email occupynewjersey@gmail.com
- Singers/Musicians/Comedians/Poets willing to donate some time to perform when there’s special events, and Saturday afternoons.
- People to volunteer to give a couple of hours to help cover the site to allow the occupiers to get a little rest. If you can do this on a regular basis it would mean so much to them.
- Volunteers from the public to-do teach-ins, seminars, etc. A great opportunity for you and your organization to raise awareness about your specific issues.
- Help with basic marketing materials – design + manufacturing of fliers, signs, pamphlets, brochures and the likes. If anyone can assist in either providing literature ideas, design and/or copy/printing services that would be a great help and deeply appreciated.
