Occupy Wall Street Gains Legitimacy (Video)

As respected educators, politicians and noteworthy figures begin to show solidarity, the Occupy Wall Street movement has moved beyond tents and marches into what is looking like a genuine political movement. Mark D. Naison for instance, a frequent guest on major TV news, like ABC News, NBC, Fox, and a history professor at Fordham University has been actively engaged in the movement and alongisde students have started a 99% club of their own on campus in the Bronx of New York City.

Time Magazine gave additional validation to the movement, alongside the countless new trend of global protest, instead of choosing an individual picking vague but fittnig choice that The Person of The Year is not a single indivdiual, but a trend of indivdiuals taking on causes from the streets, a format of activism that for decades seemed antiquated, but has risen again with a vengeance. The Person of The Year? The Protester.

President Obama's rhetoric increasingly reflects the sentiments of Occupy Wall Street, and even on the Republican side of things, concerns about Mitt Romney's $10,000 bet offer to Governor Rick Perry over comments in his book, or Newt Gingrich's associations with lobbying have turned to liabilities. Romney, originally riding on the fact that his wealth was an asset within the party has begun to frame him potentially as out of touch with average Americans.

Indeed going beyond demonstrations, but not leaving them out, the Occupy Wall Street movement perhaps ironically is now opening offices in the financial distract, and people specialized in their respective causes are taking up their action at the 60 Wall Street atrium daily.

In this video, I get a chance to talk to Dr. Mark D. Naison, a seasoned activist, teacher and eccentric. In the interview he provides some unique insights about what to expect as this new Occupy Movement evolves, and what people interested in it can do to participate.
