Occupy Wall St: The collective opening of the root chakra . . .

Note: This column is usually about Angels. These are unprecedented times and now, more than ever, it is important to understand that we are not alone. This particular column is written as the result of comments made by some who think that the  “Occupy” protesters are not ‘doing it right;’ that they should be more evolved or acting from a place of higher consciousness . .  rather than where they are . .

This column is our* response;  that we all start our spiritual journeys from where we are . .

During  my spiritual journey in the late nineties, I attended several workshops in holotropic breathwork  . . a practice      of intense breathing meant to assist in self exploration, healing and access to higher dimensions. This work is usually        done in groups and facilitated by at least one person certified to do so.

My experience was that the first emotion to arrive front and center for most of us was anger, a product of the root        chakra which sits at the base of the spine. Since most of us were women, perhaps this should not have been too            surprising since, as women, we had most likely sublimated our anger most of our lives; and this work brought it out.

So, as much as I would like to report a more auspicious beginning to my search for enlightenment, I cannot. The            honest truth is I was in the ladies room literally throwing  up my anger. And that is the way my path to the light began . . .

As I now watch the Occupy Wall St. movement and its ancillary movements in cities around the world, the common  denominator is eerily the same to me  as a whole segment of our population, once asleep, wakes up, and finds their  collective voice: there is tremendous indignation and anger around issues of survival and security . .  all root chakra  emanations; but so very appropriate to the situation.

Also, the root chakra has four spokes or petals; four is the number of the square or foundation; as in “getting a square               deal,” something missing according to the protesters.

The imperative here is this, however, the chakra system is progressive moving from the root which is of the lowest vibration on up to the crown chakra which is located at the top of the head and carries the highest vibration  (except for some lesser known chakras not discussed here.) Thus, to become enlightened or awakened, we grow in our ability to express the various vibrations encompassed by the chakras hopefully moving past the need to stay stuck in anger and resentment.

Thus, any movement which hopes to succeed must evolve and grow not just in its overall membership numbers but in its message . . .which means that its membership must evolve accordingly: as their upper chakras open to the higher vibrations of  learning to negotiate and collaborate to achieve goals . . or enlisting those who embody these skills.

And lest we forget, there are those Lightworkers among us who, like those trained practitioners previously described, now hold the sacred space for this monumental shift . . . allowing the process to occur as it is meant to occur one heart, one soul at a time . . .or . . one collective voice at a time . .
