For the first time in Orange County history soccer lovers and sports fans will have the opportunity to witness and support their very own professional men's soccer team.
Gates open at 5:30 pm with kick-off set for 7:00 pm. The first 1,500 fans receive an OC Blues replica jersey, courtesy of Sports 1 Marketing.
The Energy will also be making their first appearance in USL PRO. Oklahoma City is an affiliate of Major League Soccer’s Sporting Kansas City, and has midfielder Christian Duke available on loan from the club. The Energy are coached by former SKC goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen, who helped Sporting claim the MLS Cup last December in his final game as a player.
Orange County has a number of local standouts on the roster for the new season including James Turner (Mission Viejo HS), Chris Cortez (Trabuco Hills HS) and William "Paco" Prado (Loara HS).
Both teams also have former UCI alums including Blues' Enrique Cardenas and Energy’s Tarek Morad returning now as rivals.
“We are looking forward to our home game as the Orange County Blues FC and know we can start off our home campaign with dominance. This is an exciting time in the history of our club.” said General Manager Jon Spencer.
If you can’t make it to the game, watch the live stream online, thanks to a new partnership between USL PRO and YouTube. OC Blues FC vs OKC Energy FC will be streamed live, for free, via the OC Blues FC official YouTube channel.
