Obsidian pitches new Star Wars RPG

On 8 Febrary 2013, Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart announced that the studio is working towards developing a new Star Wars title for LucasArts, which is now owned by Disney. The game Obsidian is pitching would not take place in the same period as BioWare's Knights of the Old Republic, as Urquhart views this as a bad pitch due to The Old Republic not performing well. (Apparently, he's not aware that Knights of the Old Republic and The Old Republic take place in two separate time periods.)

Instead, the studio would like to make an RPG that takes place around the time between episodes three and four, when the Emperor is further securing his empire while the Jedi are being purged. Urquhart added that Chris Avellone, the Obsidian designer and writer who has written Knights of the Old Republic II as well as several Star Wars comics, has "[come] up with a really cool story."

The pitch was originally made before Star Wars was bought by Disney, and despite this transition Urquhart still plans to continue pushing the idea. Will it ever see the light of day? Nobody really know. We will keep readers updating as more information arises.
