Update 9/13/13: According to the Daily Mail, the disturbing Tweets posted by @Illumivato were found to be a sick, twisted hoax. The publication determined that the photo of the girl with the dead dog was initially posted back in June, months before her claims about killing the dog.
An obsessed fan of the British boy band, One Direction, allegedly killed her own dog after the pop group failed to follow her on Twitter, reported Thursday's New York Daily News.
The girl, who goes by the name of "@Illumivato," allegedly Tweeted:
"Follow me or I'll break my dog's neck,"
Accompanying the disturbing message was a photo of her pinning a Chihuahua to the floor by the dog's neck.
Days after the August 29 Tweet, the girl followed up with an even more disturbing Tweet which stated:
"I love you. Follow me. My dog has just died."
This time, the photo accompanying the Tweet was of the girl, in tears, holding what appears to be the same dog; in this photo, the dog appears to be dead.
Some people claim that the Tweets are nothing more than a twisted, disturbing hoax, but others believe that the girl is psychotic. One woman has set up a Change.org petition calling for the obsessed fan to be investigated.
Mya Fhya, the creator of the petition, writes:
Would you want you kids, pets, or loved ones around this person. She could be a student, teacher, mother, or etc walking around corrupting our youth or maybe threatening to kill them for followers on twitter.
So far, over 2,700 people have signed the petition. In the meantime, the @illumivato account has been suspended.
