Santiago Mendoza is an eight month old child that currently weights forty-four pounds. His weight is attributed to his parent’s ignorance and claims that the baby suffers from anxiety. What infant do you know that has anxiety issues?
In news reports on March 21 from News.com.au that this Colombian boy has a morbid weight that puts his current and future health in jeopardy. This child is already suffering from the effects of obesity and if not treated will be in further danger of childhood obesity that may be irreparable.
It seems that the mother, Eunice Fandino claims that the child was born with anxiety issues. Whenever Santiago cried out she feed him. This is certainly ignorance on her part and caused her baby much suffering. Not only is his movements limited if at all there is a lot of pressure being put on his lungs and heart being this overweight at such a young age.
There is a volunteer group called The Chubby Hearts Foundation that specializes in childhood obesity. They put their best foot forward to help children who are grossly overweight and volunteered to help little Santiago.
Santiago and his mother were transported by plane from their home in Valledupar to Bogota where the foundation is located. Here they will teach Eunice how to properly care and feed her child. They will be putting him on a strict diet and provide the needed medical assistance the child desperately needs.
The little one has previously been hospitalized multiple times due to his weight. This action by the foundation will be a life-saving event for Santiago. With his weight being treated his future will be promising. Hopefully he won’t have to worry about weight issues, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart health and physical stress and strain from his body once he successfully sheds those excess pounds.
Do you think Santiago’s mother should have sought help a lot sooner for her son’s health and well being?
