There is a new White House puppy racing around the yard, and she's pretty adorable. The Obamas' new dog is named Sunny, and the 14-month-old Portuguese water dog joins 5-year-old Bo as the family's furry friends. Time NewsFeed shared the details on Aug. 20.
Many remember how Bo first joined the family after President Obama had promised his daughters Sasha and Malia they could get a dog after the campaign was over. Bo now has a fun playmate, and the new White House puppy is already giving Bo a new pep in his step based on the video released of the two playing.
The White House blog shares that Sunny is “full of energy and very affectionate,” and she was named Sunny “because it fit her cheerful personality.” Bo has done far more than lounge on the White House lawn, as he regularly visits the Children's National Medical Center and the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. It seems, though, that Bo craved more doggy company, so in comes the new White House puppy.
In honor of the Obamas' new dog, the family is making a donation to the Washington Humane Society. The new White House puppy isn't wasting any time getting settled into her new family, it seems, and many are hoping they get more fun shots and videos of the adorable pairing of Sunny and Bo together.
