Confused about the new Affordable Care Act, Get Covered Illinois, and Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP)?
Then attend a free presentation at 7 p.m., Wed., Jan. 29 in the second floor Council Chambers of the Village of Glendale Heights, 300 Civic Center Plaza.
“Our presentation, Affordable Care Act 101, is open to everyone,” said Debbie McKenzie, Manager of Senior Services for Glendale Heights and program organizer. “We especially want to invite young adults, ages 19 to 34, business owners who have less than 50 employees, and seniors who may have additional questions.”
“Overall, we want people to be educated and understand how the Affordable Care Act impacts their lives,” she said.
The presenter of the one-hour program will be DuPage County Health Department Manager Ron Plemmons. This is all part of the nationally-funded Enroll DuPage Initiative.
Persons who enroll in a healthcare plan by February 15 will have insurance coverage starting March 1, 2014. Persons who do not have health insurance will be subject to a penalty through the IRS.
