Alieta Eck, MD and husband John Eck, MD founded the Zarephath Health Center as a free clinic in New Jersey. The clinic sees 300-400 patients a month, many who are on Medicaid. With doctors being reimbursed only $17 per Medicaid patient per visit, there are no doctors willing to take Medicaid patients. Understand, the Medicaid patients pay nothing at the free clinic.
Imagine a health clinic that takes private insurance for 45 percent of the people they see each month. Another 20 percent are Medicare patients, with 15 percent paying cash and 20 percent with Medicaid. The clinic would have to close the doors before the first year because Medicaid and Medicare reimburse at such ridiculously low rates.
Medicaid patients have a government-run insurance that is basically worthless. This is the very system Obama wants the entire US to be a part of. How can a man and wife, earning $26,000 annually between the two of them, afford to care for two young children and pay an insurance deductible of $6500 annually? What this means is any time someone in this family gets sick and needs to see a doctor, they must pay for the visit out-of-pocket and pay for any necessary medicine themselves. They must pay every time until they reach the $6500 deductible per person or family deductible of $14,000. After taxes, where would this couple get the money to pay $14,000 or even the $6500?
What about the subsidy Obama talks about? Oh yeah, what he is saying is this family will be on Medicaid. They will have no insurance and won't be able to see a doctor unless there is a free clinic in their neighborhood. Affordable Care Act? It isn't affordable and Obama doesn't care because it was all just an act.
Eck is a member of Zarephath Christian Church and she and her husband have five children of which one is an ophthalmology resident in St. Louis in NJ. Eck ran in the Special Republican Primary for the US Senate from New Jersey in August, 2013.
Any time the government runs a program it does so to have control of the money. This country is broke. It needs a cash flow. It just created one.
