The Obamacare website, Healthcare.gov, gives only low-income Americans the opportunity to register to vote after registering for individual health insurance plans, media mogul Glenn Beck said on his radio show today.
"If you are a low-income person...they actually register you to vote, did you know that...only in Medicaid and only low income.... They're not registering anyone else...Is that incredible?"
His revelation came after a discussion of how Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius falsely testified that she was unable to register for Obamacare during a House hearing Thursday because it is "illegal." It is not "illegal" for Sebelius to enroll in health insurance through Healthcare.gov, but it would be financially unwise for her to do so, as she would lose the taxpayer-funded subsidy for insurance that government employees enjoy, as pointed out at OPM.gov.
Must be nice.
Regarding the voter registration on Healthcare.gov, White House press secretary Jay Carney said on Tuesday,
“The linkage of, you know, checking off whether or not you want to register to vote goes back to a 1993 law regarding Medicaid.”
As reported by the Hill,
"Under the 1993 National Voter Registration Act, states are required to ask applicants for driver's licenses and social services if they would like to register to vote."
