With all the trouble with the Obamacare website, President Obama announced last Monday that the website's homepage had been updated to include more information about "other avenues to enroll in affordable health care until the online option works for everybody. So you will find information about how to talk to a specialist who can help you apply over the phone." One specialist, Earline Davis, took a call from Fox News' Sean Hannity that same day. She answered his questions and according to the Huffington Post on October 24 Earline lost her job the next day because she had taken the call.
Single mom loses her job for talking to media
The Fox News and radio host called the hotline on Monday and spoke with Earline on-air. He asked about promised improvements to the Obamacare website, and Davis answered the questions honestly. She was helpful and honest, but when she showed up for work the following morning she was escorted to HR where they told her she was being released from the company. According to Davis, she was told that she was not permitted to have contact with the media, something that was never mentioned during training.
Hannity brought Davis onto his show on Thursday where she revealed she had lost her job after their conversation. During the interview he asked, "Did you learn anything from this? Are you surprised that Kathleen Sebelius still has her job and you got fired for doing yours?"
She said, "Yes, sir."
Hannity offers financial help
Davis is the single mother of two children, and Hannity has promised her a one-year tax-free salary of $26,000, which is what she would have earned if she kept her job. He is also trying to help her find a new job.
