Obamacare” is taking on a whole new life of its own. According to a Dec. 20 NBC News report, Massachusetts State Police seized more than 1,000 bags of heroin, several of which were labeled “Obamacare.”

According to the State Police Facebook page, the heroin bust was a result of a routine traffic stop by Trooper Joseph Petty on Route 91 in Northampton. Early Friday morning, the trooper noticed a vehicle with several violations, and stopped it later in Hatfield.

Trooper Petty found 1,250 bags of heroin in the vehicle. Four individuals, driver Tyler Robenstein, and passengers Marquese Jones, Sherod Green and Ashley Beaulieu were arrested and charged with heroin trafficking, conspiracy to violate drug laws, and possession with intent to distribute a Class A substance. Robenstein faces additional traffic-related violations.

Local New Hampshire news channel 22 WLLP reports that “Obamacare” was not the only famous stamp found on the heroin packages. Other inscriptions included “Kurt Cobain,” and “Channel 9.”

Even police are baffled by the “Obamacare” inscription. Massachusetts State police Lt. Daniel Richard notes that while it is usual to see heroin stamped with words, numbers or symbols to identify sellers, “Obamacare” is one stamp he has never heard of, reports the Boston Herald.
