There has to be some type of omen in the fact that Obamacare was launched on Halloween and the county is now choking on to much candy (essentially another entitlement program we cannot afford). In this case we failed to recognize the early warning signs with respect to how the bill was passed by the legislature. This was a bill that was never carefully reviewed and properly debated by both parties which is the normal procedure for passing any bill under a democratic process. Huge in content to the extent that very few leaders in either party never read the bill before passing the legislation, it has unfortunately become a shameful example of our government in action? Whatever you now believe about the bill hardly matters, because it is now the law.
Let’s examine what has happened to this ill-conceived law so far.
After three years in the planning the website launching of the new health care program has been a disaster. Over the last several weeks it has crashed a few times and is now been seriously questioned whether the information collected has been properly protected to avoid would be hackers attempting to collect personal information for illegal means.
The fundamental cost of the program is based on the premise that young adults will buy insurance plans with provisions they don’t need at higher premiums. How are you going to convince young adults to invest in unnecessary insurance coverage given their current economic situation of high unemployment with outstanding student loans?
We were told that if you wish to keep your policy, no problem. What they forgot to mention is the insurance companies can drop your policy if it does not conform to the current health care laws.
Those individuals with health care paid by the employers may have to provide for their own plan if the employers cannot afford the expected additional premiums and drop the employee insurance coverage.
A shortage of doctors may happen if the plan creates a rush for medical treatment from an increase in demand. This could result in delays in doctor visits and needed medical treatments.
Some consumers are now just learning that a number of well recognized hospitals won’t accept insurance under Obamacare.
As list of problem continues to grow each day, there are no indications from Washington that the problems will be resolved anytime soon if ever. Given the political divisive attitude between both parties and lack of effective leadership on both sides including the administration, the problem will probably get worse before it gets better.
Don’t worry however, nothing lasts forever, it just seems that way!
