Obama to visit California to establish Cesar E. Chavez National Monument

On Monday October 8th, President Obama will announce the establishment of the Cesar E. Chavez National Monument at the Nuestra Senora Reina de la Paz (Our Lady Queen of Peace) or La Paz, in Keene, California.

The property is 125 miles north of Los Angeles and is known for being the headquarters of the United Farm Workers (UFW) and was Chavez's home at the time of his death in 1993.

Chavez's grave which also is on the property will be included as part of the monument.
