Gun control plans announced by the White House (Video)

A month after the Connecticut school shootings by a crazed gunman many American’s are in favor of gun control more than ever before in hopes of preventing another senseless tragedy. Mr. Obama announced that he has selected Vice-President Joe Biden to head up the task force to put these gun control plans in place. One or both will address the nation on gun control plans January 16, 2013.

This leaves many of us wondering if our constitution is a thing of the past. Perhaps he can fire Congress, save the government some much needed money and let Obama decide what is best for us. Americans are heartbroken over the shocking mass murder of 6 women and 20 children at Sandy Hook Elementary and 1 woman (the gunman's mother).

The question remains, will gun control stop the killings?

In 2008, Obama said, “I am not going to take your guns away that just ain’t true.” And five years and two elections later he is fulfilling yet another of his lies. Obama continues saying, “I believe in the Second Amendment. I will not take your shotgun away. I will not take your rifle away. I won’t take your handgun away… I am not going to take your guns away. So if you want to find an excuse not to vote for me, don’t use that one because it just ain’t true. It ain’t true.”

Even for those of us who don’t like guns, we've found a need for them to protect our families’ from criminals. The folks that give up their guns will be law-abiding citizens not criminals. Gun owners register their guns and criminals don't. Criminals will do what they always do, break the law and kill people.

NY passes the first gun control law in the country since Newtown shootings.

Following the Political Ticker blog which says, “According to a Pew Research Center poll, 85% of the public backs making private gun sales and purchases at gun shows subject to background checks, with comparable support across party lines. And the poll indicates that 80% favor laws to prevent mentally ill people from purchasing guns, with broad support from Democrats, Republicans and independent voters.”

President Obama on gun control: "I'm confident that there's some steps that we can take that don't require legislation and that are within my authority as president. And where you get a step that has the opportunity to reduce the possibility of gun violence then I want to go ahead and take it."

Obama says not all bills for his gun control plan will go through Congress. He is sending Vice-President Joe Biden to announce the plan and starting tomorrow Obama will enact them with the power of his executive pen. Basically, Obama in his last term of office is saying to us, I have the power of executive order and I’m going to use it.
