Unemployment line/AP Photo

The rush to push through the Stimulus plan, without being read, by Obama and Democrats in Congress has done little to reduce the growing unemployment rate.  It is now the highest it has been in 25 years.

All 48 states and the District of Columbia reported increases including:

Illinois  10.1 percent
Indiana  10.6 percent
Ohio nearing 10.8 percent
Michigan at 12.9 percent
California 11.5 percent (later reported at 14%)
Oregon 12.4 percent
South Carolina's 12.1 percent
 Rhode Island 12.1 percent
Nevada's 11.3 percent
North Carolina 11.1 percent.
Florida 10.2 percent
Kentucky 10.6 percent
Tennessee 10.7 percent
Virginia 7.1 prcent
District of Columbia 10.7 percent
Maryland 7.2 percent

Over six million jobs have been lost since the U.S. recession began. and in 18 months the unemployment rate soared from 4.9 percent to 9.4 percent.  It is expected to exceed 10 percent by the end of 2009.

President Obama had forcast about two percentage points lower in his fiscal 2010 budget predictions when he pushed for the economic stimulus package that was passed in February 2009.
