Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) quipped, “in order to have a successful filibuster, you need strong convictions but also a strong bladder. It’s obvious Senator Paul has both”.

Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) held the Senate floor for over 12-hours to protest the confirmation vote of John Brennan . Although Brennan later was confirmed in a vote by the Senate by a relatively wide 63-34 margin, Paul succeeded in placing American’s drone program into political discussion.http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/286653-rubio-nrsc-heads-join-rand-pauls-filibuster-could-get-political-boost
Rand’s stance has gathered interest across the traditional party lines to put the issue of America’s drone program to face more political scrutiny and public awareness.
Sen. Paul commented, “no American should be killed by a drone on American soil without first being charged with a crime, without first being found guild by a court”.
The Obama Administration’s refusal to completely rule out drone attacks on US civilians on American soil has inflamed support from libertarians in both Republican and Democratic Parties, including the Tea Party.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee heads and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) joined against the confirmation fight that appears to have galvanized support across party lines on the issue of civil liberties.
The wording in the drone attack policy is loosely worded to allow unnamed governmental officials to authorize drone attacks even though there may not be any physical evidence to justify the drone attack. Should the official feel the target may be guilty of a national security issue, then a drone attack can be administered even without concrete evidence.

This loose wording is troubling those that see an additional power grab against citizen rights and due process. There has been a backlash by citizens and state government officials that see drones as an unnecessary affront to the civil liberties of its citizens.
Obama signed an executive order last year giving him absolute power in an emergency that allows control over all American resources including people. The Obama Administration’s continued battering against religious freedoms has made it one of the most obtrusive administrations against citizen rights in memory.http://nation.foxnews.com/president-obama/2012/03/19/obamas-executive-order-authorizes-peacetime-martial-law
As more and more governmental control is being placed at the hands of American authorities, hardly a mention of protest has come from the majority of media that sees Obama as a champion of liberalism and implementing socialist ideals. Constitutional laws of the land are being ignored if they conflict with policies adopted by the Obama Administration.
Senator Paul’s warning of the American drone program violating citizen’s rights is a valid issue that has a constitutional impact.
