Obama skips funeral of beloved 'Auntie'; Instead goes golfing

There was a joke among DC Beltway insiders that during the Clinton years if you shook Bill's family tree hard enough, chances were that at least one more previously unknown half-brother would fall out. Barack Obama has a variation of the same predicament, except in his case, it's legal troubles involving his late father's siblings, one of whom passed away recently. As reported by both The Weekly Standard news portal on April 23, 2014, and The New York Times on April 22, 2014, Obama's beloved "Auntie" Zeituni Onyango recently left this life, yet the Chief Executive chose to pass on attending the funeral, opting instead to hit the links.

The woman who reportedly was referred to by Obama as "Auntie," Onyango first came to this nation legally on a visa in 2000 when her famous nephew was just starting his political career as an Illinois state senator. The half-sister to Barack Hussein Obama, Senior, Aunt Zeituni moved into the Obama's Chicago home to help with the raising of the second born daughter Sasha and she also "did household chores for the family."

Despite what could reasonably be viewed as a seemingly close relationship between aunt and nephew, Barack Obama elected not to attend the funeral of his beloved Auntie. Nephew Barack instead chose to spend the day of the funeral chasing a little white ball around the nearby Andrews Air Force Base golf course. Even though he chose not to pay his respects in person, Obama reportedly did help pay for the funeral as well as sending a note of condolence. No dollar amount or percentage of the costs Obama supposedly helped defray were cited.

Background on the Obama elders ...

Unfortunately for her, Aunt Zeituni's visa eventually expired soon thereafter. After an unsuccessfully attempt at gaining asylum status from the State Department, she went under the radar as an illegal alien. Only in the shadow of her nephew's election to the presidency in 2008 did reporters discover Aunt Zeituni living in abject poverty in a Boston public housing project. Citing tribal violence, in 2010 Onyango finally gained legal immigrant status when she was granted asylum from her native Kenya, one of the few functioning democracies in East Africa.

Aunt Zeituni isn't the only Family Obama elder to have run-ins with the American judicial system. Uncle Onyango "Omar" Obama had lived in the United States for almost 50 years as an illegal alien. Only recently was Uncle Omar granted a Green Card by a sympathetic federal immigration judge. Prior to his problems with America's immigration laws, he was also arrested in Framingham, Massachusetts in 2011 for drunken driving. It was then that it was discovered that Uncle Omar has an outstanding deportation order dating back to 1992.

In the wake of the $22,000 a year liquor store manager being granted his Green Card, Maria Sacchetti of The Boston Globe reported on Dec. 3, 2013:

Many accused the government of giving him special treatment at the same time President Obama is deporting record numbers of illegal immigrants.
