Obama's self-imposed Waterloo on immigration is imminent this summer

President Obama has made it clear that he intends to use executive power to enable millions of illegal immigrants to come or stay later this summer. It is the responsibility of Congress to act immediately to stop the proposed use of executive power, according to Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL).

As a member of the Senate Budget Committee and Senate Subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security and Citizenship, Sessions is all too familiar what will happen without congressional blockage. The laws set down by the Founding Fathers will be altered forever. As Sessions says, "It would be if Congress doesn't utilize every power it has, particularly the power of the purse to stop it, then it would be an incredible assertion of executive power vis-à-vis Congress.'' The Alabama Republican made his remarks on Monday during the taping of Newsmax TV's "The Steve Malzberg Show.''

It has been apparent for months, as the president’s polling numbers slide into the 30’s, that he is becoming increasingly desperate to leave what he considers his “legacy,” with or without Congress. Syria, Russia, Iraq, Ukraine, the VA scandal, the IRS scandal, etc. have been distractions to his view of the America he strives for. "It would alter the constitutional framework in a way that the Founders would never have accepted. Plain law says if you're in this country illegally you're subject to deportation and you are unable to work lawfully in our country,” Sessions said.

White House officials have already revealed that Obama is planning a large-scale expansion of rights for illegal immigrants. That will include the right to apply for a job. Because of labor’s anger over Obamacare, the president apparently feels labor has nowhere else to go than the Democratic Party.

All this can be done by executive order. No one is watching this closer than the U.S. Supreme Court.

If the unions aren’t listening for some reason, Sessions rightly says, "These workers would be given a work authorization and be able to take any job in America at a time where we are hurting, workers are hurting for a lack of jobs. It makes no sense and it also would weaken the rule of law and really undermine any moral integrity, any moral strength that we have to have enforcement of any law at the border, frankly.''

Obama’s order will grant amnesty to literally millions of uneducated, unskilled immigrants who will immediately become an overwhelming burden on American society from welfare to education. It may be a winner for Obama’s far-left base, but an unmitigated disaster for taxpaying Americans.

This will be “one of the most dramatic overreaches of executive power certainly since I've been in Congress and maybe in the last 100 years,” Sessions said. "Of course, truly if the president utilizes current law, we wouldn't be in this crisis. It's because they failed to follow our current law, a long-established law, that we've had this surge."

The plan is for Democrats to attempt a supplemental funding bill for the border crisis. The Congressional Budget Office has said they only plan to spend about $25 million of that this fiscal year, that's through September 30th.

Sessions suggests Congress has the true power. He urges all political parties to contact their representatives and express concern about the proposed executive order. As he says, "What I'm asking the American people to do is ask their representatives, Democrats and Republicans, 'do you support this? Will you support the president's unlawful amnesty assertion of power? And will you oppose it?'"

Not since the Watergate summer of 1974 has this country been so inflamed with Constitutional issues stemming from presidential power. The results will have far-reaching effects on this country and the Democratic Party – especially liberal Democrats.

Let there be no doubt that in his sixth year as president, this is Barack Obama’s Waterloo.
