President Obama's Kenyan uncle, Onyango “Omar” Obama, has been living in the country illegally since 1970 when his 1963 student visa expired. According to a Dec. 3 report on Boston.com, a federal immigration judge has ruled that he can stay in the country despite being unsuccessfully deported in 1986, 1989, and again after he lost an appeal in 1992.
Omar Obama has lived in the United States for fifty years, but President Obama has denied ever meeting his illegal uncle. The uncle claims that Obama stayed with him for three weeks when he was in college.
After eluding various deportation orders, Omar Obama was arrested in 2011 for drunk driving. At the time of the arrest, he did some rather impressive name-dropping with the law enforcement officers. As it turns out, after making a plea that basically admitted his illegal status, his case was dismissed and all he incurred from the situation were some mandatory alcohol education classes and his fees.
