While Obama urged the country to accelerate the pace toward adopting clean energy technologies that can free us from our addiction to oil, which with the BP Gulf disaster has demonstrated to carry such a huge and increasing cost, in practice, his administration has ignored true breakthroughs.
The views expressed are those of the author and not necessarily those of the New Energy Congress colleagues and advisors.

In his first address from the Oval Office since he became President of the United States a year and a half ago, Barack Obama urged the country last night to accelerate the pace toward adopting clean energy technologies that can free us from our addiction to oil, which with the BP Gulf disaster has demonstrated to carry such a huge and increasing cost.
This wasn't just one of many topics of his 17-minute address, it was the primary subject.
While I applaud the gesture, I must also comment on the emptiness of the gesture when it comes to the true breakthroughs of which I am aware from my vantage point of covering free energy technologies for the past eight years, focusing on the 'outside the box' types of technologies.
I can say that nothing has changed in the Obama administration from the previous administration when it comes to paying attention to and supporting true breakthroughs in free energy technology. Like the administration before his, the Obama administration has ignored technologies that aren't mere small advancements in the conventional renewable arena. 'Edgy', to them, is some new geothermal approach, or ocean wave energy, for example.
Never once has someone from the government contacted me to ask how they might help us scout out and vet cutting edge free energy technologies. And every attempt to contact them has been futile.
From my perspective, the reason for this oversight isn't just academic stuffiness, being bashful about paying attention to things that appear to require a new look at the laws of physics as we know them. It is because the present administration is well entrenched in the New World Order conspiracy to establish a world socialist dictatorship, with environmentalism being the rallying point for giving up national sovereignty and freedom.
True energy solutions that empower the individual and free us from dependence on a national grid are anathema to such control freaks. The U.S. government is in bed with the oil interests when it comes to pushing for a more Orwellian world, with them at the controls. The dream of freedom upon which the U.S. was founded has been overshadowed by a bunch of criminals who think nothing of destroying the environment if it serves their agenda of promoting their New World Order. They only pay lip service to taking care of the planet to the extent that it serves their political agenda for increasing control over our lives.
The reason I bother to bring up this unsavory view is so that those of you who have breakthrough technologies will not be disappointed when you find hindrance where you thought you should get help. You'll want to look to the Maverick private sector for a friendly response.
I'm not saying that there will not be a trickle of help coming from the U.S. government, because I know of at least one case where they are taking indirect measures to support one of the breakthroughs, but those are the exception, not the rule. As long as the corrupt forces are running he show, the general climate will be unfriendly toward true breakthroughs; but it's possible that some of the breakthroughs could play a role in unseating the corruption, opening channels for more friendly elements to replace them.
Here's Obama's address to the nation:
Though I am skeptical of Obama's seeming sincerity for the reasons stated above, I will say that I'm glad he gave this message to the nation as it will certainly help move us toward cleaner technology and away from our addiction to oil. I was especially touched by his closing appeal to prayer, God, and faith for pulling through this difficult crisis. If only he genuinely believed in those things.
It's no more genuine than his Hawaiian birth certificate.

Those wondering what happened to all those 1000's of submitted ideas for helping with the Gulf catastrophe should read this! Thanks again BP and the Obama administration!

Sterling, if one of the crazies or crooks featured on PESN actually had verifiable evidence of their claims Dr. Chu would surely take notice. If you wonder why no one in their right mind would consult you as to promising energy technologies there is no better example than your support of Mylow, AKA Jose Concepcion's obvious farce last year. Because PESN has promoted so many crackpots and frauds, and because PESN continues to promote claims without any meaningful fact checking PESN has no credibility.
