President Obama is going to have to pay $702 for a beer if he decides to stop in at the Sonoma Bar in the D.C. area for a cold one after a hard day at the White House. If a member of Congress decides to join him in kicking back with a brew, they are going to pay $25 for a pint of beer at this establishment. If the folks on the government furlough happen to stop by, they will only pay $2 for that same cold pint, reports "Fox and Friends" live on Tuesday morning Oct. 7.
According to the Free Patriot.org, Steve Hadley, who is a bartender at the Sonoma, has come up with a new beer menu reflecting the prices above. This is part of Hadley’s quest for help in alleviating the costs being incurred by the “not so affordable healthcare act, aka, “Obamacare.”
These prices were well thought out, they are not just off the top of his head. Hadley’s penalties from Obamacare will run $700, so add the $2 for extra measure and you have the price of a beer if the President were to order one. While members of Congress will pay $25 a beer, the folks that aren’t working because of the government furlough get a break, they only pay $2 for the same beer that will run the President several hundred dollars.
Hadley is doing this to send a message to the Congress along with the rest of the nation’s leaders. The affordable health insurance has people worried and with the added cost of this insurance the only thing a business owner can do is to pass this on to the customer.
While many of the D.C. area restaurants and bars are running special priced food and drinks for the folks who have been put on furlough, no one has created a menu that is person specific, like the one you’ll find at the Sonoma.
