Obama's approval rating by Rasmussen is his lowest ever

As President Barack Obama’s golf game was being interrupted by news of the east coast earthquake on Tuesday, he got other bad news regarding the latest poll - a Rasmussen poll.  Like Gallup's data last week, Obama’s latest numbers from Rasmussen are the lowest approval rating he has had during his presidency.

According to Gallup, Obama recently reached a new low approval rating of only 39%.  On Tuesday of this week, Rasmussen reported, in their unique way, that Obama’s Presidential Approval Index rating hit a new low of ‘minus 26.’  Prior to this, his lowest rating on the Rasmussen scale was ‘minus 24’ which he obtained in September of 2010 and again on Monday of this week.  The method of getting the Presidential Approval Index from Rasmussen is by taking the strongly approval percentage minus the strongly disapproval percentage.  Forty-five percent of Americans strongly disapprove of Obama’s performance while only nineteen percent strongly approve.

In other discouraging news for the federal government, 71% of Americans believe people are getting welfare that should not be getting it while only 19% believe people getting welfare checks deserve them.  Additionally, only 20% of persons believe that governmental anti-poverty programs reduce poverty.

In spite of the Libyan conflict, only a mere 12% of Americans believe the U.S. should be more involved with the conflict in Syria.

The only good news from the poll for the White House is that Obama leads Sarah Palin in a mock popularity poll by 17%.  But, of course, Palin hasn’t even said she’s running.
