Obama represents big business first and foremost

Obama has recently nominated Islam Siddiqui for the Chief Agricultural Negotiator, a position in the US Trade Representative office. Siddiqui is now vice president of a coalition of pesticide companies such as Monsanto and Dow Chemical. He first served as a lobbyist for the same company before he rose in corporate hierarchy to vice president.

The Obama administration has also recently increased US military spending for the current fiscal year, which is astounding considering the United States for decades has maintained relatively high levels of expenditures and the President is a Nobel Prize recipient. Even amid right-wing allegations that he was decreasing "defense" expenditures in office lately, the fact is the "defense" budget alone increased by a significant percentage.

Obama has openly and secretly broke his promise to exclude former lobbyists from key positions in government (through waivers and recusals), bailed out financial institutions and big business companies like GM without little if any government control, and has ditched single-payer health care.

And there are other glaring indications that he is just another corporate Democrat, not the progressive person of change many of us wanted.

Amen, Joe. And he's definitely no Populist, either.

Why don't we wait and see what happens with this health care thing. It might just turn out to be something that could help alot of people without health care now.
