Obama panders to far left in favor of jobs and economy

To no one's surprise, Canadians are tired of waiting for a flip-flop President Obama to make a decision about the Keystone XL Pipeline. Their answer is to deliver oil to Asia, specifically China.

The new pipeline. know as the Northern Gateway project, will run 732 miles from the oil sands in landlocked Alberta across British Columbia to a new marine terminal in the Pacific Coast town of Kitmat, according to global news agency AFP.
More than 525,000 barrels of oil per day will be transported for shipment across the Pacific to “Asia,” most likely to China.

In contrast, if the Obama administration would quit pandering the far left wing of the Democratic Party and do what is right for the American worker and the economy, the Keystone XL pipeline could carry 700,000 barrels a day from Alberta to refineries on the U.S. Gulf Coast.

The Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, expressed his frustration with the Obama administration saying, he was "profoundly disappointed." Due directly to Obama's intransigence, Canada now needs to diversify its oil exports, which now go almost entirely to the United States.

Harper had warned American officials as far back as 2011 that putting the pipeline on hold meant they would look to Asia. "I am very serious about selling our oil off this continent, selling our energy products off to Asia," he told CTV.

Ironically, British Columbia, where the pipeline would end and the oil ships would dock, fear would make the province vulnerable to an oil spill, damaging the scenic coastline, The New York Times reported.

Enbridge is the corporation contracted to build that pipeline. It must meet over 100 conditions before construction can begin, according to the Times.

It may be this country's last chance to import oil from a friendly country that won't cause us to go to war or hold us ransom for foreign aid.
