On Sunday night, President Barack Obama and outgoing United States' Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton were interviewed on CBS' "60 Minutes" news program by Steve Kroft.
During the interview, the two former political foes - Obama and Clinton - got along famously well which caused many pundit reactions about the foe-turned-friendship relationship between the two through the past four years during Obama's first term. There has also been speculation that this was very likely a scene which may have made Vice President Joe Biden rather uncomfortable to see.
Beyond that type of talk, regarding the interview, there has been strong criticism to President Obama's reaction to the question Kroft asked about Benghazi. Within Obama's response, he made reference to a humorous anecdote which many have found disrespectful and simply a matter of poor timing.
Obama said during the interview:
You know, I remember Bob Gates, you know, first thing he said to me, I think maybe first week or two that I was there and we were meeting in the Oval Office and he, obviously, been through seven presidents or something. And he says, "Mr. President, one thing I can guarantee you is that at this moment, somewhere, somehow, somebody in the federal government is screwing up. <Laughter>
As expected, left-leaning commentators and news sources are ignoring the incident while independent and right-leaning commentators and news sources are making note of the president's televised, light-hearted quote regarding the deadly Benghazi terrorist attack of last Sept. 11.
