Marking the 38th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Saturday President Barack Obama released a statement honoring the landmark Supreme Court decision guaranteeing a woman's right to reproductive freedom.
On January 22, 1973, the United States Supreme Court struck down Texas’s criminal abortion laws, finding that the right to decide whether to have a child is a fundamental right guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. The 7-2 decision in Roe v. Wade would have an immediate and profound effect on the lives of American women.
Today marks the 38th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that protects women's health and reproductive freedom, and affirms a fundamental principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters.
I am committed to protecting this constitutional right. I also remain committed to policies, initiatives, and programs that help prevent unintended pregnancies, support pregnant women and mothers, encourage healthy relationships, and promote adoption.
And on this anniversary, I hope that we will recommit ourselves more broadly to ensuring that our daughters have the same rights, the same freedoms, and the same opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.

Sad, sad day for humans. The day liberals brought human life down to the gutter.
Great comment!
All pregnant women in the US must be forced to give birth.

Another great comment!
All pregnant women, including illegal immigrants, must be forced to give birth.
The government should spare no expense in forcing pregnant women to give birth.
"All pregnant women in the US must be forced to give birth."
Idiot. (: First, lets force them to have unprotected sex. (:
to Sad:
Yes the 10 year old who came into my ER last week who had been violently raped by her uncle SHOULD have been on birth control.
Yes from the age they begin to crawl, all girls should be on birth control just in case that a man who happened to want sex NOW should not have to worry about thinking of any repercussions from his actions.
If men could get pregnant, abortion would be in the bill of rights...even before the second amendment.
No one, let me repeat that, NO ONE has the right to intrude on another person't right for an abortion.
