President Obama has been in Jerusalem, Israel this week, and during a speech on Thursday Obama was heckled by one audience member. Huffington Post shared the details on March 21.
During the speech Thursday in front of students in Jerusalem, President Obama was heckled in Hebrew. One Hebrew speaker in attendance said that the shouting was about Jonathan Jay Pollard, an American intelligence analyst who is currently serving a life sentence after being convicted of spying for Israel.
The president recently said that he has no immediate plans to release Pollard, despite the fact many have been calling for clemency. Pollard has been in jail for 28 years and is said to be in poor health. His sentence is quite unusual for the crime he was convicted for, spying for a country that is an ally.
President Obama didn't flinch when the shouts came out. He joked about the lively debate and how “I wouldn't feel comfortable if I didn't have at least one heckler.” Obama being heckled isn't an entirely uncommon occurrence, and the president definitely took this one in stride.
