Obama has very little credibility to stake. Last week at the G-20 Summit in Russia, President reacting to the scrutiny from the media whether the United States was going to take military action against Syria; Obama claimed his credibility wasn’t at stake because of previous comments he made suspecting Syria using chemical weapons against their own people. He emphatically declared last year if Syria or other countries used chemical weapons that would be a red line in the sand. Just as he has done in other controversial confrontations, Obama is waffling and shirking responsibility.
He is parsing words and endangering the country. The entire administration is embarrassing itself. Yet, Obama doesn’t see it. He is getting very little support from around the world. Our closest allies, Germany, Great Britain and Australia are rejecting any support for any military action against Syria. The administration cannot substantially prove Syrian President Assad used chemical weapons despite the administration’s charges. The civil unrest in Syria has been going on for nearly three years. Obama decides now to react.
Obama can’t even define the moderates or the radical factions involved in the fighting. He can’t even explain the purpose of the strikes or the objective.
The primary reason is Obama’s deceit. We are one year away from the raid on our Consulate in Benghazi. Obama has been absolutely dismissive in his reaction to that raid. The country still doesn’t know what truly happened and no suspects have been apprehended. He supported the Muslim Brotherhood replacing former President Mubarak in Egypt. That move proved disastrous.
Americans have grown very weary of war and Obama’s leadership. He was hardly convincing how grave the threat to America actually is. Over the Labor Day weekend, when he first indicated taking military action in Syria, he later went out and played golf. Nearly every poll indicates 70% of Americans disapprove of military action in Syria.
Tonight, when Obama addresses the nation anticipating of getting congressional approval, he will claim his credibility isn’t on the line. He’s right. He has none.
