The number of deportation cases being dismissed by Houston immigration judges, has risen more than 700 percent since July.
According to the Executive Office for Immigration Review, 217 cases were dismissed in August, with another 174 dismissals occurring in September. In July, there were only 27 deportation cases dropped by U.S. immigration courts in Houston.
About 45 percent of cases are now simply being dismissed.
The Houston Chronicle has reported that U.S. government prosecutors are now actually approaching immigration attorneys to file joint motions for dismissal of their cases.
Houston immigration attorney Steve Villarreal confirmed this growing but secretive policy, saying: “They're just doing it quietly.”
Prior to July, the Houston immigration courts averaged 38 case dismissals.
In August, Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman, Richard Rocha, announced that the Department of Homeland Security was reviewing thousands of immigration cases and prioritizing them according to criminal history.
If an illegal alien has no serious criminal record, that is, no felonies—deportation proceedings are simply being dismissed. Illegal aliens who have been inside the country for at least two years and have only been convicted of misdemeanors will be allowed to stay.
While the dismissals have only begun en masse in Houston, Raed Gonzalez, an immigration attorney briefed by Homeland Security's deputy chief counsel in Houston, recently told the Houston Chronicle that DHS is now reviewing cases nationwide and the policy is expected to be implemented throughout the rest of the country soon.
DHS is apparently conducting a similar review in Dallas and Miami.
As he has done many times before, Gonzalez went into immigration court on Monday to represent several illegal aliens facing deportation. However, this day in court was different. Gonzalez said: “[The court] was terminating all of the cases that came up. It was absolutely fantastic.”
Of course, to those who want to see the rule of law respected, the new policy is seen as being far from “fantastic.”
Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies said: “They've made clear that they have no interest in enforcing immigration laws against people who are not convicted criminals.”
Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) stated: “This situation is just another side effect of President Obama's failure to deliver on his campaign promise to make immigration reform a priority in his first year. Until he does, state and local authorities are left with no choice but to pick up the slack.”
Tre Rebsock, the ICE union representative in Houston, said the Obama administration’s order is “going to make our officers feel even more powerless to enforce the laws.”
Of course, Houston, under the leadership of Mayor Bill White has become a sanctuary city for illegal aliens and without any local resistance, Obama undoubtedly sees Houston as the perfect city to begin his policy of a ‘backdoor amnesty.’
Unable to get an amnesty bill through Congress and facing ever plummeting poll numbers, Obama has simply decided to become our undocumented dictator and make up his own laws.

The most nonpartisan organization known as the Heritage Foundation, has calculated the dollar numbers and projected that that to create this new law will cost US taxpayers--$ 2.6 TRILLION DOLLARS. This is just at the federal level and doesn't take into account State and local government expenditures.
America already owes foreign governments 11 to 13 Trillion dollars and an additional 2.6 Trillion dollars is an incomprehensible financial nightmare. Then again, Liberal-Democrats want to share our Social Security with illegal aliens (Voted May 2006)? This is the height of disgusting, when retirees and the disabled have been told no increase next year, owing to low inflation. Many recipients cannot even manage on the Social Security check as it is, yet the US government has money to hand out to illegal labor and their families.

Now the Liberal nonprofit Houston Votes 2010, along with Tex Together Fund, are being investigated by the state’s attorney general’s agency over allegations of fraud, conspiracy and ties to the New organized Black Panthers. Other voter fraud has began to materialize elsewhere across the country, more so in registrations.
If it wasn't for the Tea Party's vigilance this type of voter fraud would have remained likely undisclosed, especially now the Liberal-Democrats party is under the axe. Being in this country illegally should require deportation, as it will obviously compel more people to enter America. Sen. H. Reid and Senate Democrats of nearly tabling E-Verify, limiting the effect of this labor verification program to a voluntary law. The 287(g) local police enforcement authority is now in the justice system as a class action law suit, to overturn the law. The usual court filing excuse is it leads to racial profiling, particularly among Latinos, creating a dread of authority in non-citizen communities. The crisis being that we have been invaded and over the last two decades of people attracting to jobs and accessing public benefits. This is why Border States have condemned themselves to a massive influx of illegal households subsisting on freebies, using bogus documents or bringing babies here for citizenship to exploit the nationwide entitlement system. Can we imagine where Texas will be if Bill White wins the Gubernatorial race? The entire state of Texas will turn into a sanctuary state. We've already received a lot of the illegals that ran out of Arizona.
Obama should be impeached, as should have George Bush. Apparently, the terms adminstration "policy" or white house "policy" means political deal making on what, when, and where federal laws will be enforced. This clearly demonstrates that the exective branch of government controls the judicial branch when they were created to be independant of each other. This is a broken, corrupt government which crys out for criminal convictions and penalties. The Washington oligarthy is immune from itself.
Note Cornyn's reference to "immigration reform" by which he does NOT mean amending the process through which we admit people LEGALLY. He's talking about AMNESTY for those who have ALREADY broken the law, and continue to do so every day they wake up on US soil. How can Texans be so brain-dead to send this guy back to the United States Senate?
Why are there so many traitors in the Congress, the White House, and the judicial branch of government? Why are the people in Washington so bend on destroying the economy and financial system in America? Why are so many American soldiers fighting in so many wars all over the globe? Why is Washington getting so involved in the affairs of other nations including providing arms and financial aid to overthrow other governments?
The answer is the US Government does not give a damn about the American people. We are to be used and abused by our own government. That is why America is in a state of decline. We have a government of the politicians, by the lobbyists, and for the special interest groups. The only thing the US Government sees is more control of the American people, more wars to build an empire, and a general decline in America, with more families being destroyed by those in Washington and corporate America. It is sickening when our own government will not enforce its own laws, allowing a certain segment of criminals break as many laws as they like, with no consequences. Someone shouild SUE DHS and ICE (like Oshama sued AZ) for allowing illegals to get away with breaking laws. Why isnt anybody doing something about this? This is illegal, treasonous, unconstitutional, immoral and un-American. This is horrible!! Why isnt somebody doing something about this, immediately, now. Houston??? The place looks more like Mexico City to me. Some parts look like Africa. Congratulations to the people of Houston for allowing it to turn into a 4th world city. If you leave the rich areas and drive around, it's a nightmare. Businesses and governments wanted cheap labor and they got it. It came with a high price though....crime, decay, and destruction.
