An Obama gift goes astray, but thanks to a Good Samaritan, the First Family's Christmas gift is being sent to the intended recipient. President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, and their daughters mailed Sasha and Malia's godmother a gift containing family photos, but the USPS delivered it to the wrong address. However, the Obama's Christmas present is on its way to "Mama Kaye," according to a Jan. 3 Politico news report.

When an Obama gift goes astray, you can bet your bottom dollar Late Night comedians will have a free-for-all in the coming days. And while this incident is a bit humorous, it proves that even at the highest levels of authority, power, and government, things can potentially go wrong.

As Murphy's Law goes: "If there are two or more ways to do something, and one of those ways can result in a catastrophe, then someone will do it." Today, many know it has "What can go wrong, will go wrong." Apparently, the Obama's Christmas gift faux pas is a prime example.

The holiday odyssey began when the Obama's mailed an album of private family photos to Kaye Wilson. Instead, Alane Church, a person unknown to the family, received the homemade box of pictures.

Parts of the old box were in this toilet paper box that the post office repackaged. In the bottom of the box was this extra gift. And we were reading the tag, trying to figure out, you know, where this came from, and it was opened. So we then discovered this was a very personal gift to Mama Kaye," said Church, who shared her story on the Today Show, Thursday.

The well-intended woman showed parts of the album, but in keeping with the family's privacy, she didn't show the actual photos, which many would agree, are sacrosanct due to their sentimental value, and confidential, to say the least.

In the end, Church did the right thing and made preparations to forward the Obama family Christmas photos to Wilson.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Postal Service is investigating what went wrong. Hopefully, the president's daughter's godmother receives the gifts as they were meant to be.

More to come on the "Obama gift goes astray" story.
